荻窪八幡宮秋祭り: Autumn Festival in Nishi-Ogikubo

It was too hot to be an Autumn Festival, but being mid-September, that is what the festival was supposed to be.  Historically, it would've taken place after the harvest, so it may have been a bit later in the year after the temperatures settled down.

Saturday was an easier time, because there was only the kids' shrine and it was only for about 2 hours.  Sunday started at 11:30 and didn't end until 7:30 PM!  The kids handled it quite well, but the adults all were wiped out in the end.  Still, it is an annual ritual that the family enjoys tremendously.  If you haven't had an opportunity to experience a Japanese matsuri – you should – it is a HUGE rush!
